Accessibility

The Rosemount Lifelong Learning website was created and is maintained with basic accessibility in mind. We aim to reach conformance level A from the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

The following features are intended to make the site easy to use for all visitors.

Font

If you want larger font then you can change the font size. In Internet Explorer, go to the View menu, select Text Size and select your preferred size from the list. In Firefox select View from the Menu bar, select Text Size, and then either Increase or Decrease.

Or, alternatively, if you hold ‘CTRL’ (on a PC) or ‘the command key’ (on a Mac) and press ‘+’ and ‘-‘ you will increase and decrease the size of the text, respectively.

Navigation

  • Access Keys – These short cut keys link to pages like the home page or the site map. More information on Access Keys.
  • Site Map – This lists all the pages in each category of the website
  • Consistency – The navigation is consistent across the whole site to make finding information easier.

Plain English

We aim to use plain language and try to avoid unnecessary jargon and acronyms. Text in some documents, such as in-house reports, may contain more complex or technical language.

There is also a free translator provided by Google in the topmost bar of the page for your translation needs.

Images

We provide a text alternative for all images on the website.

Opening and downloading Adobe Acrobat documents

Downloadable documents on the site are in Portable Document Format (PDF). Where we have attached a PDF document, we provide a link to the Adobe Acrobat website so that you can download the free Adobe Reader needed to open a PDF. Acrobat Reader now has improved accessibility features and includes the facility to read the text out loud.

Browsers

Our website has been tested in a variety of old and new browsers.

Interactive maps

Whilst every effort has been made, it is not currently possible to make Geographic Information System (GIS maps) completely accessible to all users (for instance Javascript and style sheets must be enabled).

You can access a wide range of the information available in these maps in text format by contacting us.
